The Lyric presents Scratch (no Spit!) 27 Jan 2020 - 27 Jan 2020

As you may know, Scratch & Spit takes place at The Lyric on the last Monday of every other month. Usually the first half features around six 5-minute scratch slots (to be signed up on the night), then two more developed 10-minute scratch slots (to be pre-booked), followed by a headline show in the second half after an interval. However... as there is HOT demand each time for the open mic and scratch slots, we thought we'd make a one-off, full length, Scratch only (no Spit, i.e. headline show!) night, to be filled with your works in progress. Over the five Scratch & Spit nights we had such an excellent variety of poems, stories, songs, aerial work, clowning mime, and other wordy and non wordy works, created by talented people in the area, who wanted to share their ideas and work with an appreciative audience, there must be more out there - and how better to kick start your creativity for 2020?!

So we are now CALLING ALL poets, writers, theatre makers, circus performers, storytellers!! Without you there will be no event!

This one-off evening can accommodate slightly longer performances than the usual 5-10 minutes, so if you have work between 5 and 20 minutes that you'd like to share, we want to see it! Please email Rob (the brilliant Scratch & Spit compere) in advance to book:

If you'd prefer to chance it on the night for a 5-minute slot, please arrive as close to 7pm as you can, and sign in with Rob. We can't promise there will be space available so recommend booking ahead for this night.

Doors & bar open at 7pm for 7:30pm start. Pay what you feel on the door, bring cash!

This showcase is developed in partnership with ArtfulScribe and Apples & Snakes as part of the DO:Write project.
